Spiramycin | 3.000.000 IU |
Treatment of infections caused by micro-organisms susceptible to spiramycin, respiratory tract, skin, and genital infections.
Prophylactic treatment of meningococcal meningitis, when rifampicin is contraindicated.
Prophylaxis of congenital toxoplasmosis during pregnancy.
Chemoprophylaxis of recurrent acute rheumatic fever in patients allergic to penicillin.
POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Method of administration
For oral use, should be taken 2 hours before meals or 3 hours after meals.
Posology
- Adults: 1,500,000 to 3,000,000 IU per day, divided into 3 times.
- Children: 150,000 IU/kg per day, divided into 3 times.
Prophylaxis of meningococcal meningitis:
- Adults: 3 million IU/12 hours x 1 time
- Children: 75,000 IU/kg/12 hours x 1 time in 5 days
- Prevention of congenital Toxoplasmosis during pregnancy: 9,000,000 IU/day divided into several doses for 3 weeks, giving a booster dose every 2 weeks.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to spiramycin, erythromycin, or any ingredient in the drug product.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
Caution should be taken spiramycin in patients with liver dysfunction because the drug can cause hepatotoxicity.
SHELF-LIFE
36 months from the manufacturing date. Do not use after the expiry date.
