Acyclovir | 200 mg |
Aciclovir Tablets are indicated for the treatment of herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2 infections of the skin and mucous membranes including initial and recurrent genital herpes.
- Treatment of acute herpes zoster (shingles) infection, shingles of the eye, varicella pneumonia in adults.
- Treatment of hemorrhagic chickenpox, chickenpox in immunocompromised people, chickenpox in infants.
POSOLOGY AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Administration
For oral administration, regardless of the meal. Dosing should begin as early as possible after the start of signs and symptoms of the disease.
Dosage
Treatment of herpes simplex infections
- Adults and children over 2 years: 1 tablet every 4 hours, 5 tablets/day for 5 – 10 days.
- Immunocompromised people: 2 tablets every 4 hours, 10 tablets/day for 7 – 14 days.
- The dose for children under 2 years is half of the adult dose.
Prevention of recurrence of Herpes simplex in immunocompromised patients, organ transplant patients taking immunosuppressive drugs, HIV-infected patients, chemotherapy users:
- Adults and children over 2 years: 2 tablets/time x 5 times/day for 7 – 14 days
- The dose for children under 2 years is half of the adult dose
Treatment of chickenpox and shingles
- Adults: 4 tablets/time x 5 times/day for 7 – 10 days
- Children with varicella
+ Children over 2 years and weighing less than 40 kg: 20 mg/kg x 4 times/day (maximum 80mg/kg/day) for 5 days.
+ Children over 2 years and weighing over 40 kg: 4 tablets/time x 4 times/day for 5 days
Dosage in the elderly
- In the elderly, total clearance of aciclovir decreases in parallel with creatinine clearance. Therefore, adequate hydration of patients should be maintained and the dose must be adjusted in patients with renal impairment

CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Hypersensitivity to aciclovir or valaciclovir or any of the excipients listed in compositon.
PRECAUTION
- In patients with impaired renal function, the dose must be adjusted according to creatinine clearance. Patients should pay attention to drinking enough water and avoid the concomitant use of drugs that are toxic to the kidneys.
SHELF LIFE
36 months from the manufacturing date. Do not use this product after the expiry date.
